National recognition builds for Plessey’s ground-breaking MicroLED display technology, which featured in a broadcast on one of the region’s major communication networks yesterday.
The broadcast outlined the growing consumer demand for augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR) and Head-up display (HUDs) technology in our day-to-day lives, emphasising why bulky virtual reality headsets will become a thing of the past and furthermore, why next generation smart-glasses and HUDs will begin to strive.
This is where the spotlight shined on Plessey’s globally unique MicroLED technology. Plessey’s high-brightness displays will be able to comfortably power the next generation of smart-glasses and wearable display applications with its light weight and energy efficient MicroLEDs without restricting the overall experience for AR, MR and HUDs applications.
According to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), headsets and eyewear outfitted for AR and MR applications are set for record sales this year of $1.2 billion in the US market alone.
